Ongoing work around Mohe

This summer, Prof. Bin Hu and a small team will return to the Mohe field site and choose another representative sampling area for a second set of samples. The aim is to test the influence of alders and their root nodules on the permafrost table height as well as on soil carbon and nitrogen stocks. This is being tested with increasing distance to the respective alder stands on peatland soil and is thought to reveil very valuable and unique data that enhance our understanding of plant-soil relationships in this typical permafrost ecosystem.
